SKODA Australia has announced pricing and specification for its all-new fourth-generation Octavia medium sedan and wagon range, with the overhauled line-up set to touch down in April priced from $30,390 plus on-road costs.
Set to be divided into three trim levels with the choice of sedan or wagon body styles, the six-variant Octavia range will be offered with the 1.4-litre 110TSI engine for the Ambition and Style grades, while the top-spec RS will continue with its meatier 2.0-litre engine.
Opening the range from $30,390 plus on-road costs in sedan form is the 110TSI Ambition, which asks an extra $1300 when in wagon guise.
As mentioned, the 110TSI variants continue to employ the familiar 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine developing 110kW/250Nm, driving the front wheels exclusively via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Combined fuel economy is rated at 5.7 litres per 100km for the sedan, up to 5.9L/100km in the wagon. The six-speed manual transmission previously offered has not been carried over for the new generation.
From the outside, the Ambition can be identified by its 18-inch silver Perseus alloy wheels, LED head- and tail-lights, privacy glass, silver roof rails, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a sports spoiler for the wagon, rain-sensing wipers and an electrically opening and closing tailgate.
Inside, the Ambition scores a 10-inch Bolero touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, virtual cockpit digital cluster, eight-speaker sound system, flat-bottom steering wheel, ambient lighting, electric park brake, tablet holders, keyless go and an umbrella stashed in the driver’s door.
On the safety front, the Ambition duo come as standard with adaptive cruise control, front assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, eight airbags, rear parking sensors and an electronic differential lock for the front axle.
Employing the same powertrain as the Ambition and priced from $34,890 (sedan) and $36,190 (wagon), the Style adds 18-inch anthracite Perseus alloy wheels, electrically adjustable folding and heated wing mirrors, full Matrix LED headlights, side lights, and front foglights with cornering function.
Inside, the Style adds a 10-inch Columbus infotainment system with sat-nav, keyless locking and go, alarm and park assist.
For those wanting a boost in spec, the Style is also available with two option packs, the first of which is the $3200 Tech Pack, bundling adaptive chassis control, a head-up display, 12-speaker Canton audio system, DAB+ digital radio and three-zone climate control.
The Luxury Pack can also be had for $5800, which includes leather upholstery, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seat with memory function, side assist with blind-spot detection, adaptive lane guidance, heated front and rear seats, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, rear traffic alert, rear control panel for the climate control, five USB-C ports, rear-window mechanical sunblinds and memory/auto-dimming function for the side mirrors.
Alternatively, the two packages can be bundled into one for $7800.
Sitting atop the range is the Octavia RS from $47,790 or $49,090 for the sedan and wagon respectively, powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-pot good for 180kW/370Nm (like the outgoing RS245).
Driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (again, no manual is offered), the RS is aided by a front-axle inter-wheel lock and sips 6.8L/100km.
A number of exterior touches separate the RS, such as its 19-inch Altair brushed Anthracite alloy wheels, red brake callipers, RS badging, a 15mm-lower sports chassis, and black finish on the door mirrors, window frames, B-pillars, grille, tailgate lettering and roof rails.
Inside, it adds RS leather/fabric upholstery, RS Sports seats, carbon dash décor, Alcantara door panels, RS logos and animation for the infotainment, five type-C USBs, DAB+ digital radio, progressive steering and auto hold assist.
Extra safety kit includes 10 airbags, passenger protect assist, emergency assist, aide assist and lane change assist.
An RS premium pack is also available for $6500, which adds many of the Tech/Luxury pack features such as adaptive chassis control, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory function, head-up display, virtual pedal, 12-speaker Canton sound system, heated front and rear seats, park assist, massage driver’s seat, driver lumbar support, drive mode select, three-zone climate control with front and rear controls, rear mechanical sunblinds (standard on the wagon) and memory/auto-dimming function for the side mirrors.
A fitted towbar can be had for $2000, while wagon owners can also spec a panoramic sunroof for $1900.
Like the rest of the Skoda range, the Octavia comes with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
Skoda Australia has opted not to bring the plug-in hybrid versions of the new Octavia found overseas, instead opting to jump straight to full-electric powertrains when they arrive.
Last year Skoda sold 2111 examples of the Octavia – up 16.4 per cent on 2019 – while 153 units were shifted in January, down 13.6 per cent year-on-year.
